SCITUATE, R.I. -- The Rhode Island State Police announced Wednesday morning it will be distributing to municipalities more than $110,000 forfeited by criminals arrested over the course of a three-year investigation.
The investigation, conducted by the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, resulted in 189 arrests, and seizure of: 25 firearms, 11.2 kilos of heroin, 52.8 grams of cocaine, 2.5 kilos of crack cocaine, 3,730 kilos of marijuana and 222 units of steroids, among other illegal drugs, reported Major Michael Winquist.
The police chiefs from municipalities that participated in the investigations were scheduled to attend a 10 a.m. news conference at State Police headquarters to receive their share of forfeiture money.
