EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The East Providence police arrested a 34-year-old man Sunday after, the police say, he called 911, local and state police and threatened to shoot the police if they came to his home.
Fearing he had weapons, the police were activating the SWAT unit when Robert Lewis, of Walnut Street, came out of his house and was arrested around 3 a.m., according to Lt. Raymond Blinn.
The police charged Lewis with making bomb or similar false threats and threatening a public official, both felonies. He was also charged with making crank or obscene calls, providing false information to 911, domestic vandalism and indecent exposure.
