BARRINGTON, R.I. -- Now there are five Rhode Islanders set to compete for the title of World Yo-Yo Champion Aug. 2 to 4, in Orlando, Fla.
On Friday, 15-year-old Jake Gorton was added to the list of contestants, joining his brother Zach, 13, who was named earlier. He will be part of Team Yomega, so-named for an event sponsor.
The Gortons are from Barrington and will compete alongside another set of brothers from the town, Ben and Morgan Alexander, ages 15 and 12, and Graeme Stellar, 17, of Providence.
First organized 80 years ago in London, the competition draws contestants from around the globe and this year is expected to test the skills of more than 200 players from 22 countries.
