PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Rhode Island health officials have reopened Sandy Point Beach in Portsmouth and Hazard's Beach in Newport to swimming.

The Department of Health announced Friday that it was opening the beaches because bacterial levels had returned to acceptable limits.

At this time none of the 115 licensed beaches in the state are closed.

The health department monitors water quality at beaches across the state in the summer months to ensure safe conditions.

During beach season, the R.I. Department of Health's beach monitoring program routinely tests water quality at all state beaches. For up-to-date information about beach use, call (401) 222-2751 or visit health.ri.gov/news/beaches/ to use the Health Department's interactive beach map.
