EAST GREENWICH -- Six months after its long-awaited reopening, the historic Odeum Theater is calling for an intermission and putting its summer season on hold in order to plan for the venue's long-term future.
Representatives of the nonprofit operation said that six shows that had been scheduled for the summer have been indefinitely postponed and refunds given to ticket holders.
"We need to take time to [determine] what kind of shows we want to have in the future and what kind of theater we want to be," Bruce Rollins, interim president of the Odeum's board of directors, said Monday.
The Odeum had been closed for about six years when it reopened in January after making improvements to bring the Main Street landmark into compliance with new fire safety laws.
