PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Rhode Island lawmakers decided late Tuesday night that they need to return on Wednesday to wrap up their work.
"They're not finished," Larry Berman, the House spokesman, said, shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday. "They're not going to go until 2 or 3 in the morning..."
The House has a "10:30 rule," Berman said, and "rather than suspend the rule we decided to come back tomorrow."
Committee hearings will resume Wednesday at 2 p.m.
The Assembly had hoped to end its 2013 session Tuesday night. But lawmakers got embroiled in a fight over whether to allow tolls on the new Sakonnet River Bridge. Meanwhile, several key issues remained unresolved.
