PROVIDENCE -- A city man who was shot and killed shortly before midnight on the Fourth of July has been identified as Josue Harney, 20, of 40 Harriet St., police said.
Police Chief Hugh T. Clements Jr., said a second man gunned down in the shooting, Trent J. Manning Jr., 23, of 222 Vermont Ave., Providence, is expected to survive. Both men were brought to Rhode Island Hospital around midnight.
Harney's murder is the 10th in the city this year and the fourth in three weeks. Detectives are looking for the shooter.
At 11:50 pm, the police responded to a shooting on the street outside 2 Henry St., in the city's Manton neighborhood. The police said there was ``a large party in the street,'' followed by a altercation and a barrage of gunfire.
Investigators found 13 shell casings from a high-powered .45 caliber handgun on the street.
Clements said that Manning has not cooperated with the police.
