WARWICK, R.I. -- Several people were injured in two separate accidents on 95 south near exit 13 around 2:30 Saturday morning, the Rhode Island State Police report.

A total of five cars were involved, including one that flipped onto its roof and rolled over, said Sgt. Michael Reynolds. Two people, one from each accident, were charged with driving under the influence.

No one was seriously injured in either crash, said Reynolds. In the first crash, ambulances took the driver of one car, who was alone, and three people from the other car, to area hospitals. One driver involved in the second crash was also taken by rescue to an area hospital.

The first crash led to three other cars colliding, Reynolds said.

The driver who caused the first accident, Shayna Zalcberg, 30, of 45 Hunters Crossing Drive, Coventry, was charged by the police with driving under the influence, blood/alcohol content unknown; refusing to take a chemical breath test; and reckless driving. She was taken by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital for injuries she suffered in the accident and upon release, transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks where she was arraigned and released pending court action.

Reynolds said Zalcberg was traveling south on Route 95 near the Airport Connector and rammed a car driven by Michael Brum, 45, of North Kingstown, from behind.

Brum's car came to rest on its roof in the left breakdown lane. Zalcberg's vehicle then struck the median barrier, bounced off the barrier, continued forward, struck the median barrier a second time and stopped about 500 feet in front of Brum's car, said Reynolds.

Seeking to avoid hitting the two cars, a vehicle driven by Jared Bisordi, 32, of 1442 Frenchtown Rd., East Greenwich, swerved and collided with cars driven by Michael Imondi, 47, of West Warwick, and Dacia Read, 27, of Foxboro, Mass., Reynolds said.

Reynolds said that Bisordi was charged with driving under the influence, blood alcohol content unknown, and refusing to take a chemical test. He was held overnight at the Lincoln Woods Barracks pending a morning arraignment.
