CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. -- The deaths of two people in an apartment on Sylvian Street have been deemed homicides, Central Falls Police Chief James J. Mendonca said on Sunday.
The police recovered the bodies of the two adults Wednesday. The chief said Sunday that their names were being withheld until relatives are notified.
The Journal has reported that the police on Wednesday night were investigating a possible homicide involving at least two victims in a third-floor apartment at 16 Sylvian St.
A resident of the second-floor apartment, Amanda Medeiros, said that she and her family had smelled a strange odor for three days and, on Tuesday night, saw maggots coming down from their ceiling. She said her landlord advised them early Wednesday afternoon to leave the apartment, the Journal reported
Medeiros said the third-floor apartment had been occupied by a woman and a baby as well as two other young adults who had not been seen for a few days.
