PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Patrolman Michael Pattie told jurors Friday that Monet Lounge staff told him to keep an eye on two Brockton men -- Jamal Cruz and Rokiem Henley -- as he worked a security detail Aug. 25 at the Harris Avenue nightclub.
Then, after closing at 2 a.m., someone warned that a fight was brewing in the back parking lot. Seconds later, he heard a gunshot and called for backup, Pattie said.
His partner, Patrolman Daniel Sirignano, reported that two men had been shot and he had two suspects. Pattie could see that Cruz, who was wearing a white sweater vest, had been shot in the chest, he said. Henley, too, appeared wounded.
Pattie approached the passenger side of a Chevy Impala as Sirignano held its driver and passenger at gunpoint, warning him that the passenger had a gun.
Sirignano covered him as he removed the passenger, Stephen Bodden, from the car, Pattie said.
As Pattie handcuffed and patted Bodden down, Bodden told him, "It's me. It's all me. It's all mine,'" Pattie said.
Pattie is testifying in the trial of the driver of that car, 24-year-old Terrel Barros, of New Bedford, who prosecutors say fatally shot Cruz and wounded Henley.
