PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Prepare to be baked by high temperatures and heavy humidity today.
The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for all of Rhode Island from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. as highs in the 90s will linger on the coast and inland, making it feel well over 100 in some spots.
The record to beat is 98 degrees (set in 1999 and '82), at T.F. Green.
According to our weather partners at WPRI, a few isolated thunder storms may roll in later in the day because the humidity is so high, but sunny skies and stifling humidity will rule most of the day.
Thursday has been declared an Air Quality Alert day, meaning there will be free rides on all regular Rhode Island Public Transit Authority buses and trolleys.
