PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Democratic U.S. Rep. David N. Cicilline has launched a new television advertisement that accuses Republican Brendan Doherty of "outrageous attacks" against him, while renewing his own efforts to tie his challenger to GOP policies that are unpopular with many voters.
In an effort to counter criticism of his voting record as a state legislator, the ad describes Cicilline's support of certain criminal laws.
The ad features men and women making various points on Cicilline's behalf. "I just don't like these attacks from Brendan Doherty," says one.
Others refer to Republican policy on taxation and Medicare, continuing Cicilline's strategy of tying Doherty to what he has called the "radical" GOP agenda. For his part, Doherty has pointed to some House GOP leadership policies that he opposes.
