PROVIDENCE, R.I. - HousingWorks RI, a nonprofit research group that studies affordable housing, is losing an executive director and gaining a new home at Roger Williams University.
Nellie Gorbea will step down as executive director July 31, and communications director Nicole Lagace will become interim director while continuing her current responsibilities, HousingWorks announced.
Roger Williams University has awarded a $50,000 grant to the nonprofit group and said it has started to integrate HousingWorks RI into its university relations division.
"This partnership provides the people of Rhode Island with key fact-based information on affordable housing and the economy in the Ocean State," said Peter Wilbur, associate vice president for university relations. "HousingWorks RI provides excellent experiential learning opportunities to Roger Williams University students, and the integration of HousingWorks RI into Roger Williams University is a real win-win for Rhode Island and the university."
