BRISTOL, R.I. -- A 17-year-old Portsmouth girl is to be arraigned Wednesday on charges she stabbed another young woman Tuesday night in Bristol, the authorities said.
The suspect, who has not been identified because she's a minor, was held at the Training School on a charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, a felony, and disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, Deputy Chief Steven Contente said.
The girl, Contente said, stabbed a 21-year-old woman after the two argued. Contente said the 21-year-old was a passenger in a passing car when the 17-year-old started yelling at the occupants. When the car returned and stopped, Contente said, the youth stabbed the 21-year-old in the right shoulder.
The 21-year-old, who was not identified, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital. Her condition could not be updated Wednesday.
The Portsmouth youth was arrested at her aunt's house, 10 Francis St. at 9:13 p.m.
Also arrested was her aunt, 44-year-old Charlene Stoker, on charges of obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct for interfering in the arrest.
