FOXBORO, Mass. -- Two East Providence residents were injured Tuesday evening when their 1994 Honda Accord drifted from the left lane on Route 495 south and collided with a vehicle in the middle lane, then careened off the road, struck some trees and rolled over, the Massachusetts State Police said in a news release.
The Honda's four occupants got out before the car burst into flames.
Karthika Gaddam, 26, and one of her three passengers, Swaphika Tummala, 27, both of Riverside, were taken to the Boston Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Gaddam was cited for the crash. The other two passengers and the operator of the other vehicle, a 2011 GMC Arcadia, were not injured.
Sharon and Foxboro Fire Departments put out the car fire and a resulting grass fire.
