PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- When a Providence woman found a man passed out by the Rhode Island School of Design just before 2 a.m. Wednesday, she tried to rouse him.
Louis L. Folco woke up angry.
The 31-year-old West Warwick man, who has a record of domestic violence, punched 28-year-old Kristen Lapp in the face and tackled her to the ground on Canal Way, where he started choking her, witnesses told police.
A RISD officer, who witnessed the attack, ordered Folco to stop and then blasted him with pepper spray, according to a Providence police report.
Folco let her go and was arrested. He was charged with simple assault.
