CRANSTON, R.I. -- A Cumberland woman was charged with a felony count of assault on a person with severe impairments after a Cranston couple viewed images on their cellphone captured by their nanny cam, which was monitoring their 9-year-old developmentally disabled son.
The couple left a restaurant they were at and returned to their Cranston Street home, a police news release said, and told the caretaker they had recorded her aggressive treatment and asked her to leave.
Kimberly Faneuf, 46, of 74 Bryant Street was released on her own recognizance, with a court appearance set for Oct. 7.
The news release said the video shows the caregiver provided by Bayada Home Health Care grabbing the bedridden child's left arm while shaking and twisting it. It also shows her grabbing the child's head and side and slamming him down on three occasions.
The parents found bruises on his forehead and left arm as well as a blood spot on his left eye. He had more injuries around his neck and mouth. The boy was treated at Hasbro Children's Hospital, and released, the police said.
The Rhode Island Department of Health is also investigating.
