CRANSTON, R.I. -- The 169th Military Police Company is beginning a 10-month deployment on Sunday, the Rhode Island National Guard announced Friday in a news release.
The company of 150 soldiers will leave Quonset Air National Guard Base in North Kingstown following a 3 p.m. send-off ceremony. The company will provide security in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
During the ceremony, the company will receive the Iraqi Surge Streamer for its participation in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007-2008. And 100 soldiers of the 43rd Military Police Brigade will be awarded the Combat Action Badge for earlier deployments in Iraq.
