WARWICK, R.I. -- The driver of a pickup truck died after hitting a traffic signal pole on Jefferson Boulevard on Saturday afternoon, the police said.
The police did not identify the victim, but said he was an 81-year-old man from Warwick who may have been stricken prior to the accident. He was taken by a rescue vehicle to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
There were no passengers in the truck.
The accident near the Airport Connector took place at about 3:40 p.m. The police said neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors.
