PROVIDENCE, RI - The city of Providence and the Providence Public School District are partnering with Workforce Solutions of Providence/Cranston and the R.I. Department of Labor and Training to host two upcoming job fairs for hundreds of available per diem substitute-teacher positions.
The job fairs will be held:
Thursday, August 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Providence Career and Technical Academy, 41 Fricker St., and Tuesday, August 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Roger Williams Park Casino, 1000 Elmwood Avenue.
Interested applicants may also apply on-line at www.providenceschools.org/careers.
These job fairs are being held to ensure that the district has a qualified professional in every classroom.
Applicants holding a bachelor's degree in any subject area are eligible to teach as a per-diem substitute. Before they begin work, they must receive a general subject matter certification from the Rhode Island Department of Education.
The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training's Business Workforce Center has assisted with the planning of the job fair and will provide staff support.
