NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. -- The state Labor Relations Board has upheld a charge filed by the North Kingstown firefighters that the town did not bargain in good faith when it changed firefighter work schedules to 24-hour shifts in 2012.
Elizabeth Wien, attorney for the union, said the the completed decision must still be written by the board's attorney and could take as long as two months.
Elizabeth Dolan, president of the North Kingstown Town Council, is a member of the Labor Relations Board, but recused herself from voting on a North Kingstown issue. She said the town disagrees with the board's decision, and plans to appeal once the ruling has been finalized.
