JAMESTOWN, R.I. (AP) -- The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority has rescheduled a meeting at which board members plan to discuss Sakonnet River Bridge tolls.
The meeting was scheduled for Wednesday but has been pushed back a week, to Aug. 14.
Lawmakers voted to delay a higher toll on the bridge until next year to study alternatives, then reversed course because state officials had warned the toll might not be able to be implemented later because of federal rules.
The 10-cent toll goes into effect Aug. 19.
The head of the authority board has said the agency is trying to figure out how to implement the toll because it doesn't make financial sense to mail bills to people who travel across the bridge without an E-ZPass unless they do so several times.
