JOHNSTON, R.I. -- Police Chief Richard S. Tamburini on Friday morning fired a probationary officer who has been charged in Warwick with breaking and entering, disorderly conduct and assault.

Tamburini said that Marisa Ciccone, 24, who joined the force under probationary status on Dec. 19, turned in her badge and gun.

"She is no longer an employee of the town of Johnston," Tamburini said.

He said Ciccone faced about 10 administrative charges and was given the opportunity to tell her side of the Tuesday incident in Warwick, which involved a disturbance at a house at 53 Byron Blvd.

Ciccone still faces criminal charges in Warwick and is scheduled to return to court Sept. 16. A co-defendant, James Fortin, 44, of Warren, was charged with breaking and entering and was given the same court date.

Reached by phone Friday, Ciccone would not comment.
