WARWICK, R.I. -- About 30 firefighters battled a heavy blaze Saturday night within a commercial building on Bald Hill Road.

Firefighters went to the building, which housed a clock shop and The Nail & Spa Lounge, at 8:08 p.m., and found the heaviest fire in the shop, Warwick Assistant Fire Chief Bruce Cooley said.

One civilian was injured in an attempt to gain entry to the building during the blaze, Cooley said. The unidentified person received a serious leg injury and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital by West Warwick rescue.

Firefighters controlled the blaze, which extended into the nail lounge, mostly through the ceiling, in 30 to 45 minutes, Cooley said.

No firefighters were injured. Cooley had no information to share on the cause of the fire.

An investigation by the state fire marshal's office continues.
