CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. -- Rosemary Booth Gallogly, state revenue director, stopped by Central Falls High School on Wednesday night to brief the City Council on what they will be allowed to do when power is restored to them in the coming months.
But she made one thing perfectly clear: there will be little room for the council members to spend money and deviate from the annual budgets that have been approved by a federal bankruptcy judge.
Any expenditures that are not in the budgets, must be approved by the administrative and finance officer who will be appointed by the next mayor. The mayoral election is scheduled for Dec. 11.
Gallogly said the officer will report to the state.
"It's designed to make sure we stay on track,'" she said.
