WARWICK, R.I. -- Firefighters rescued passengers from a stranded sailboat Monday afternoon after the boat ran aground on a sandbar off Conimicut Point.
The call came in at about 4:09 p.m., as the tide was going out.
Police Lt. Michael Forde said one person, wearing a life vest, stayed with the 20- to 25-foot boat to wait for larger boat that was coming to pull the sailboat off the sandbar.
