MENEMSHA, Mass. (AP) -- It was date night Tuesday for President Barack Obama and his first lady.

With their daughters yet to join them on vacation, the Obamas went out for dinner at the Beach Plum Inn, voted the most romantic getaway on Martha's Vineyard by Martha's Vineyard magazine.

Earlier, Obama had simpler fare with deep fried seafood takeout from Nancy's restaurant across the island in Oak Bluffs. He took the meal to senior adviser Valerie Jarrett's rental home overlooking Nantucket Sound.

Then he worked off lunch playing basketball at a nearby school with friends and staff. Rain kept him from golfing, as he had done both previous days on Martha's Vineyard.

The Obamas are spending eight days at the exclusive Massachusetts island getaway.
