NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) -- Authorities are trying to determine the source of a significant fuel spill in New Bedford Harbor.
A state Department of Environmental Protection spokesman says the spill of between 100 and 200 gallons of diesel fuel was reported at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
The Coast Guard as well as state and local authorities deployed absorbent booms to contain the spill, which was then soaked up with absorbent padding.
The spill covered a large area near the bridge connecting New Bedford to Fairhaven.
The source of the spill remains under investigation and authorities are asking anyone who knows anything to come forward.
