WESTERLY, R.I. -- Police have arrested a man they say robbed the Washington Trust bank branch at McQuade's Market on Wednesday.
Police Chief Edward St. Clair said 40-year-old Norman C. Renaldi was arrested Friday after returning to his home on Pawcatuck Avenue in Stonington, Conn. He is accused of getting away from the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash after demanding money. No weapon was shown.
Police said that with the assistance of police in Hopkinton they identified Renaldi as a possible suspect. He is now being held in Connecticut as a fugitive from justice and will be facing bank robbery charges in Rhode Island.
