NEW LONDON, CONN. -- Connecticut State Police are looking for information regarding a head-on collision early Saturday morning that left one driver dead.

The police responded to the Gold Star Bridge at Interstate 95, which is north of exit 84 in New London, at 4:17 a.m. Saturday morning.

A 2011 Sierra driven and owned by Derrick Brawn, 25, of Maine, was travelling north on the Gold Star Bridge approaching the crest of the bridge. At the same time, a 2002 Saturn driven by Francisco Lobos, 24, of Norwich, Conn., was travelling south in the northbound lane of the Gold Star Bridge, the police report said.

The two cars collided head on, and Lobos was ejected from the car and later pronounced dead. Brawn refused medical treatment on the scene, the police report said.

Anyone who might have witnessed the collision or can provide further information is asked to contact Trooper Daniel Hoffner at 860-848-6500.
