A Cranston man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to cheat at a casino game at the Twin River slot parlor in Lincoln, the Rhode Island State Police said in a news release Sunday.

Xi Liang Chen, 29, was arrested by members of the State Police Gaming
Enforcement Unit on Friday.

Twin River's own surveillance unit asserted that it saw Chen place a "past post" bet at a roulette table. Twin River's unit notified a State Police detective, who reviewed surveillance video and said he saw Chen place the bet in question of $500 at the table.

The dealer was alert to what was allegedly happening and did not pay the wager.

The State Police said that, if the dealer had not seen what was occuring, then Chen would have received a $1,000 payout.

Chen was processed at the State Police's Lincoln Woods Barracks, where a justice of the peace set bail for Chen at $5,000 personal recognizance.

Chen is slated for a pre-arraignment conference in District Court, Providence, on Nov. 1.
