TIVERTON, R.I. (AP) -- Tiverton police say a man was driving 122 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone seconds before a crash that killed him last month.
The Newport Daily News reports it obtained the information after making an open records request.
Bryan Henrique was killed on his 21st birthday when his car slammed into a telephone pole around 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 6.
His passenger was seriously injured.
Tiverton Police Capt. Patrick Jones says state police used the vehicle data recorder to determine he was going 122 miles per hour three seconds before the crash. Police say the data showed the brake was applied two seconds before the crash.
It also showed neither man was wearing a seat belt.
Toxicology reports are not yet complete.
