PROVIDENCE, R.I.-- A Superior Court judge has ordered a lawyer to contribute $1,000 to the courts for releasing to the media a confidential report regarding a North Kingstown mother convicted of killing her daughter.

Judge William E. Carnes Jr. ordered Joseph C. Salvadore to pay $1,000 to the pretrial services unit in District Court by Oct. 5 for disclosing Kimberly Fry's pre-sentence report to The Providence Journal and Channel 6.

Salvadore admitted being in contempt in court and apologized at hearing last week, according to courts spokesman Craig N. Berke. The court accepted the apology of Salvadore, 56, of Lincoln.

Salvadore briefly entered as Fry's new lawyer weeks before she was to be sentenced in February 2012 for second-degree murder in the death of 8-year-old Camden. Shortly after taking the case, he released the report to the media with a written consent letter from Fry.

A lawyer for Salvadore could not be reached immediately for comment.

In October 2011, a jury convicted Fry of second-degree murder for strangling Camden in August 2009 after the two battled during bath time. Carnes sentenced Fry, 40, to 40 years in prison, with 20 to serve.
