CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) -- A new addiction recovery center is opening for imprisoned women in Rhode Island.
The Anchor Recovery Community Center was scheduled to open Monday at the women's facility at the Adult Correction Institutions.
It will provide women with sobriety resources like support groups and programs designed to help them stay in recovery once they complete their sentences.
The center is a joint effort by the state's Department of Corrections and the Providence Center.
Dale Klatzker, president and CEO of the Providence Center, says the goal is to give inmates struggling with addiction a place where they can support each other and get the help they need.
