PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- To introduce the next speaker, BIF creator Saul Kaplan said Paul LeBlanc isn't reacting, he is leading change.
LaBlanc has been the president of Southern New Hampshire University for the last 10 years.
He says education "remains the difference maker" for people in poverty, and it is still out of reach for many.
At his university, LeBlanc says they focus programming on adults and the lowest-wage adult workers.
Its College for America program is affordable, student centered, and has mentors, and gives competency grades rather than letter grade. They also go to organizations rather than have them come to the university.
It just had its first set of graduates.
