WEST WARWICK, R.I. -- The parents of a baby boy who was treated for cocaine ingestion face neglect charges, the police said Thursday.
Detectives went to the home of Erin Hobin and Christopher Kidd after staff at Hasbro Children's Hospital reported the case on July 25 and found the remnants of narcotic substances, prescription narcotic pills and drug paraphernalia, according to West Warwick Police Detective Sgt. Scott Amaral.
The items were easily within reach of children, he said. Hobin later admitted that she and Mr. Kidd are habitual heroin users and had used cocaine together just two days before the incident involving their child.
Both Hobin and Kidd were charged on Sept. 13 with child neglect, arraigned in District Court, Kent County, the police said. They also were found in violation of their probation and held without bail, the police said.
