PROVIDENCE -- About 12 people were taken to the hospital by ambulance and two people were arrested, but injuries and criminal incidents at Friday night's Barstool Blackout Tour "Foam Party" were not as bad as anticipated, Providence police chief Hugh T. Clements Jr. said Saturday night.
Due to reports from other cities on the Barstool tour, Providence public safety officials were ready for as many as 30 hospital transports, Clements said.
The presence of "Molly," a potentially lethal club drug, had heightened concerns, prompting the Dunkin' Donuts Center to staff a doctor at the event.
The drug is known to cause severe dehydration and a spike in body temperature. Alcohol increases these effects.
Police made two arrests, charging one person with delivering Molly and another person with possession, Clements said.
Only one of the patients taken to the hospital appeared to be suffering from symptoms related to Molly, while 10 of the cases were alcohol related, Clements said.
