PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (AP) -- The school committee in one Rhode Island town has approved a policy permitting officials to administer blood-alcohol tests to random students at school dances or other extracurricular events.
WPRI-TV reports Wednesday that officials intend to have the policy in place for the school's homecoming dance on Saturday.
Under the policy, students attending an event would be required to draw a ticket at random to determine which ones are given Breathalyzer tests.
