PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A survey conducted last spring by Alpha Research Associates found that 72 percent of Rhode Islanders have a very favorable or mostly favorable view of their local governments, while only 30 percent have a favorable view of their state government -- far below the national average of 53 percent.
The figures were released Wednesday by the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns, which said it would disclose more details during the League's Annual Dinner at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick.
James Gaffney, President of Alpha Research Associates and longtime pollster, will talk about the survey and which level of government Rhode Islanders "trust the most" in remarks starting at 8 p.m. in the hotel's Grand Ballroom.
