YWCA honoring 11 women, including RI first lady

PROVIDENE, R.I. (AP) - YWCA Rhode Island is honoring 11 women across the state, including the first lady, an Air National Guard officer and the Central Falls school board chairwoman.

The organization is holding its ninth annual "Women of Achievement" ceremony in Lincoln on Thursday.

In addition to first lady Stephanie Chafee, other awardees include Maj. Lynne Hannon, a logistics officer with the Air National Guard; Central Falls School Board Chairwoman Anna Cano Morales; Jacqueline Dowdy, ombudsman for Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island; and Eileen Hayes, president and CEO of Amos House.

The YWCA is also recognizing Quota International in Woonsocket and Pawtucket/Central Falls as the Organization of the Year. Quota is a service organization for deaf, hard-of-hearing and disadvantaged women.
