FALL RIVER, Mass. -- Ernest Wallace, a friend and co-defendant of accused killer Aaron Hernandez, the ex-tight end for the New England Patriots, had his bail remain on Thursday at $500,000 cash.
Superior Court Judge E. Susan Garsh said she was troubled by his extensive criminal record that dates to 1988. She also was disturbed that Wallace has no ties to Massachusetts and he has used four aliases to conceal his identity.
David Meier, of Boston, Wallace's lawyer, asked Garsh to set bail at $10,000 cash.
Wallace, 41, of Miramar, Fla. and Bristol, Conn., was with Hernandez on the morning of June 17 when Odin L. Lloyd, of Boston, was shot and killed in North Attleboro.
Last month, Hernandez was indicted for first-degree murder while Wallace was charged with accessory after the fact of murder.
Many new details about the murder and Wallace's life surfaced at Thursday's hearing, that will be detailed Friday.
