PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Islanders will be able to celebrate the Red Sox's World Series victory with a rally in Providence and a chance to see the championship trophy.

Mayor Angel Taveras says the rally is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. People will be able to take pictures with the trophy from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Rhode Island Convention Center. The event is free.

Wally the Green Monster, the team mascot, is expected to attend. It wasn't immediately clear whether any Red Sox players will be on hand.

The event is being hosted by the mayor, House Speaker Gordon Fox and Senate President Teresa Paiva Weed.

The Red Sox defeated the St. Louis Cardinals last month to win their third World Series in 10 seasons.
