Providence firefighters cut a hole in the roof of a 3-story home on President Ave., in Providence's East Side to vent the heat.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Four Providence firefighters were taken to a hospital after fighting a blaze early Wednesday morning at an East Side resident.
Three firefighters fell through a hole in the second floor, another was treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire at the home on President Ave. appears to have started on the first floor and was reported at 6:15 a.m., according to fire officials. It caused extensive damage.
The house is for sale and is occupied but nobody was home at the time.
The cause is under investigation.
