PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee and Secretary of State Ralph Mollis are set to unveil educational resources that they hope will help school students learn about the state's colonial charter.

The charter turns 350 years old this year. The state has celebrated the anniversary with historical lectures, a cocktail reception, a visit by Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan and the opening of a new one-room Statehouse museum where the influential document is displayed.

The charter was one of the first documents in modern history to set out the principal of religious freedom.

The new educational material is designed to be used to teach students about the charter's role in American history. Chafee and Mollis plan to unveil the educational resources Friday at the Statehouse.
