PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) -- The city of Pawtucket says it will ask the state's highest court to allow it to fire a police officer convicted of indecent exposure while off duty.
Officer Nichalas LaPrade was accused of exposing himself to two women while driving in November 2010. One of the women said LaPrade was masturbating.
The city sought to fire the officer but missed a key deadline. LaPrade won the right to return to duty. He is currently suspended with pay.
The city announced details of its plans late Wednesday. It had earlier said it would appeal.
