CRANSTON, R.I. -- Three members of the R.I. Emergency Management Agency staff are leaving Monday for a nine-day deployment helping with the recovery from superstorm Sandy, the agency announced in a news release.

Logistics Chief Kenneth Baker of North Providence, Operations Chief Raymond Laprad of Warwick and Planning Chief Armand Randolph of Cranston are expected to be working in New York City.

"We are told that accommodations are primitive, food may not be available, and power and water supply is unlikely," RIEMA Executive Director Theresa C. Murray said in the news release.

"Rhode Island is stabilized, so we are committed to send relief to our colleagues," she said. Through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, the state can get reimbursement for aid rendered in disaster relief.
