Rhode Islanders will vote for candidates for federal, state and local offices in Tuesday's election. They will also vote on seven statewide ballot questions and, in many communities, local ballot questions. Check our politics page for voter resources.
WHO MAY VOTE: All who registered by the Oct. 7 deadline, a total of 728,631 voters. There are also last-minute options, detailed here.
FIND YOUR DISTRICT: Some polling locations have changed because of redistricting. To find out where to vote and to see a sample ballot, visit providencejournal.com's Voter Information page, the secretary of state's website at sos.ri.gov/vic/, or call the office at (401) 222-2340. BRING YOUR ID: Voters will be required to provide identification. Acceptable IDs include passports, driver's licenses, RIPTA bus passes and credit cards. For a more comprehensive list, visit sos.ri.gov/elections/voterid/acceptableID/. Voters can also obtain a free ID at the secretary of state's Elections Division, 148 West River St., Providence, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. including Election Day.
POLLING TIMES: All polls open at 7 a.m. except in New Shoreham, where they open at 9 a.m. All polls close at 8 p.m., an hour earlier than in past general elections.
