WASHINGTON --Warwick native and former Air Force Col. Martha McSally just might become Congresswoman McSally, Republican of Arizona.
McSally held onto a razor-thin edge Wednesday afternoon over Democratic Rep. Ron Barber, in a House race that is headed for a recount, says the Arizona Daily Star.
During the Persian Gulf War, McSally became the first American to fly in combat. Later, she challenged a dress code imposed on women stationed in Saudi Arabia.
That stand won McSally wide acclaim, as well an invitation from Rep. James R. Langevin, D-RI, to watch President George W. Bush's 2002 State of the Union address from the gallery of the House of Representatives.
