PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- An East Providence man was indicted in the murder of his estranged girlfriend on Christmas Day 2010, leaving her twin infant daughters crying in their cribs.
Raymond A. Grundy, 37, is accused of killing Staria Lynn Silva -- and even trying to get someone else to murder her. A statewide grand jury indicted him Wednesday with one count of first-degree murder and one count of criminal solicitation.
The 35-year-old woman had been stabbed and strangled inside her East Providence apartment. Silva's mother found her body.
Grundy is now serving six years as a probation violator. He has other pending charges, including felony domestic assault and violation of a no-contact order against Silva.
He'll be arraigned in Superior Court on Nov. 21.
