HOPKINTON, R.I. -- Hopkinton police, with the assistance of dogs from the State Police and Westerly police, have conducted two searches for a missing man who is believed to have gone into the woods near North Road on Monday and has not been heard from since.
William Brear, 62, of Westerly, is described as being 5'6'', having a slim build, with white hair and blue eyes. He is in ill health, according to a missing-persons flier put out by the police.
Hopkinton Police Chief David Palmer said that based on a telephone conversation the man had with friends on Monday, he appeared to be despondent. Brear has not been heard from since 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Palmer said.
